わたしは蝋染めという染色技法を用いて作品制作をしています。なぜわざわざ染めているのと聞かれることがあります。素材の美しさを残せることや、自分の表現したいものに適していることもありますが、1番は自然や技法の力を借りることが出来るからです。
水に乗って動く染料は完全に制御できないですし、一度置いた蝋や染料はその場で元に戻すことはできないので一発勝負になってしまいます。だから不自由な技法に思われるのかもしれませんが、だからこそ自分の発想になかったものが生まれ、常に発見があります。制作していく中で自分自身が次の絵を見たいと楽しみながら制作しています。そうして制作したものが染色とアートの魅力に気づけるヒントになり、誰かの心に沁み入るものになれたら幸いです。

I use batik to create my works.
I am sometimes asked why I bother with dyeing. It is partly because I can preserve the beauty of the material, and partly because it is suitable for what I want to express, but most of all because I can borrow the power of nature.
Dyes that move on water cannot be completely controlled, and once the wax or dye has been placed, it cannot be restored on the spot, so it is a one-shot process. This may seem like an inconvenient technique, but it is precisely because of this that I am constantly discovering new things that have never occurred to me. As I create, I always enjoy looking forward to the next work. I would be happy if what I have created in this way could be a hint for people to realize the appeal of dyeing and art, and if it could touch someone’s heart.
